Legislative Changes: What they mean for you and your organisation

Updated: Mar 22, 2023

Respect at Work Bill 2022

The Respect at Work Bill 2022 focuses on organisational obligations for proactively providing work environments that support appropriate behaviours and positive employee experiences - highlighting the importance of moving beyond engagement to understanding and proactively creating culture.

Read our HENRY REED article ‘Moving Beyond Engagement to Understand Organisation Culture” to unpack the significant impact of the Respect at Work Bill 2022, which places the onus firmly on employers to proactively protect employees from hostile work environments.

Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act

Could you prove that your organisation had taken all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in your workplace? As of 6 March 2023, that is the legislated requirement to prevent liability for sexual harassment as a person or company.

Establishing culture to support appropriate ways of working and to elevate standards is the most effective way to prevent serious workplace misconduct issues such as sexual harassment.

Contact the HENRY REED team to discuss how we can support your board and executive team to navigate these legislative changes.
